How we care for your information on this memorial
Last updated: 1 August 2026
Introduction
This website is a private memorial created in loving memory of Grace Rosebud Abra Tedjame-Mortty née Alifo (1942 – 2026). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal data you share with us. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the rights you have under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR.
Who we are
The family of Grace Rosebud Abra Tedjame-Mortty née Alifo maintains this memorial and acts as the data controller for the personal data collected here. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, you can contact us at [email protected].
What information we collect
We only collect the information you choose to give us through the features of this site:
- Condolences & tributes — your name, an optional email address, your chosen relationship to Grace, and the message you write.
- Family tree — your name, an optional relationship detail, and an optional photograph, when you add yourself to the family tree.
- Gallery contributions — your name and any comment or photo tag you add, and any photos or videos you upload.
- Donations — your name, an optional email address and phone number, the amount and currency, and who you wish to support. Card, mobile money, and PayPal payment details are entered on, and handled by, the payment provider — we never see or store your full card details.
Why we use your information and our legal basis
We use the information you provide to:
- Display your condolences, tributes, family entries, and gallery contributions on the memorial.
- Process and acknowledge donations, and send an emailed receipt if you request one.
- Respond to you if you contact us.
Our legal basis for processing is your consent, which you give when you submit a form and tick the consent box, and our legitimate interest in operating this memorial and administering donations. You can withdraw your consent at any time (see “Your rights” below).
Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run this memorial:
- expressPay — to process card and mobile money donations securely.
- PayPal — to process PayPal donations securely.
- Our hosting and email provider — to host the website and to send donation receipt emails on our behalf.
These providers process data on our behalf and are required to protect it. Some may process data outside your country under appropriate safeguards.
Cookies
This memorial does not use advertising or analytics tracking cookies. We use only a single essential cookie that keeps a family administrator securely signed in while managing the site. Because it is strictly necessary for the site to function, it does not require consent. Your browser also stores a small note in local storage to remember that you have seen our privacy notice.
How long we keep your information
We keep the contributions and donation records for as long as the memorial remains online, so that Grace’s memory and the tributes shared for her are preserved for her family. If you ask us to remove your information, we will do so promptly.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is inaccurate;
- ask us to erase your information (“the right to be forgotten”);
- ask us to restrict or object to how we use your information;
- ask for a copy of your information in a portable format;
- withdraw your consent at any time; and
- lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these rights, simply email us at [email protected] and we will respond as soon as we can.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised “last updated” date.
